Advisory Council of European Prosecutors CCPE

 Established by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on July 13, 2005, with the aim of preparing opinions on issues related to prosecutorial bodies, as well as promoting the effective implementation of the Recommendations of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (2000) dated October 6, 2000, regarding the role of the public prosecution in the criminal justice system.

Noting the success of previous conferences of the General Prosecutors of Europe, the task of the CCPE is to continue organizing conferences on topics of interest to the European prosecutorial community.

This institution is regarded as a key tool for developing rules and norms concerning the activities of prosecutorial bodies.

The main powers of the CCPE include:

·  preparing opinions for the European Committee on Crime on issues arising from the implementation of Recommendations (2000) 19 regarding the role of the prosecution in the criminal justice system;

·  preparing, at the request of the Committee of Ministers, the European Committee on Crime, or any other body of the Council of Europe, an opinion on issues related to prosecutorial bodies;

· collecting information about the activities of prosecutorial bodies in Europe.

The forms of work of the CCPE include:

· plenary sessions (the main form);

· meetings of the Bureau;

· meetings of working groups.

Plenary sessions are held regularly, usually once a year. The first meeting of the Advisory Council of European Prosecutors took place on July 6, 2006, in Moscow.
