The prosecutor of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office has approved an indictment against a 35-year-old man, who is charged with treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in June 2025, a resident of the city of Izium voluntarily began communicating with a representative of the Russian special services via the messenger "Telegram" and agreed to carry out his tasks.
The man attempted to establish contacts with Ukrainian servicemen in the city, disguising himself as a laborer offering assistance with everyday issues. In doing so, he conducted photo and video documentation of the locations of personnel and equipment, marked coordinates on Google Maps, and transmitted them to his curator from the Russian Federation.
The information obtained by the aggressor could have been used to carry out missile and artillery strikes on the locations of Ukrainian defenders.
Law enforcement officers detained the man. He was placed in custody without the possibility of bail.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of fifteen years or life imprisonment, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
