An investigation into cocaine smuggling in Ukraine will be completed - two foreigners will be tried

Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, have completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to the court against two EU citizens for the facts of smuggling and trafficking in narcotic substances (Part 3 of Article 305 and Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the foreigners attempted to establish a channel for supplying large quantities of cocaine to Ukraine.

They used their connections in criminal circles to find "wholesale buyers" and, for this purpose, repeatedly traveled to Bukovina. During their last visit, in the spring of this year, the accused contacted a potential customer.

They then carefully planned the routes for smuggling the narcotic substance, agreed on the price and weight of the goods with the "customer," and to avoid detection, sought accommodation and transportation for rent.

In July, the foreigners organized the delivery of the first batch of drugs to Ukraine.

During a special operation, they were detained in Chernivtsi while attempting to sell nearly 1 kg of cocaine, the estimated value of which on the "black" market reaches almost 6 million UAH. Also, nearly 100 thousand euros in cash were seized at the temporary residence of the accused.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
