Due to the prosecutors, almost UAH 330 million was refunded to the state budget

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General and in cooperation with the State Bureau of Investigations, a former head of the Resource Support Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (now the Department of State Procurement and Supply of Material Resources) has been notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation established that from August to November 2023, the then acting director of the Resource Support Department of the Ministry of Defense entered into 19 contracts with several business entities for the supply of lubricants, oil, and distillates for special-purpose equipment for state needs, totaling 2.045 billion hryvnias. At the same time, the amount of state contracts included VAT in the amount of 340.867 million hryvnias, contrary to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated March 2, 2022, No. 178, and Article 195 of the Tax Code of Ukraine. Through his actions, the former official of the Ministry of Defense caused severe consequences amounting to the specified sum.

The losses were confirmed by an audit of the State Audit Office of Ukraine and the conclusion of a forensic economic examination.

Prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General have taken measures to recover from business entities damages amounting to 329.22 million hryvnias to the state budget of Ukraine.

Appropriate measures are being taken to recover an additional 11.647 million hryvnias.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
