Two foreigners who were preparing terrorist attacks in Bukovina and Prykarpattia were detained

It has been established that two citizens of a foreign state were recruited by Russian special services. Through "Telegram," they received instructions from their handler: to organize arsons and provocations in the territories of Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk regions to scare local residents.

They were tasked with setting fire to administrative buildings — premises of government bodies or local self-government, as well as vehicles. The client also sent the executors a video instruction on how to carry out the arsons.

Upon arriving in Ukraine, the suspects settled in one of the hotels in Chernivtsi and purchased flammable substances to carry out their tasks.

The next day, they first broke the windows and then doused the administrative building in the Mamaivska community with fuel and set it on fire. The accomplices recorded the fire on video for reporting to their handler, after which they fled. The damage caused to the community amounts to about 700,000 UAH.

Subsequently, the men traveled to a neighboring region, where they were detained under Article 615 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

They have been notified of suspicion under part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — a terrorist act committed by a group of persons in conspiracy, causing significant property damage. They are in custody.

Information regarding their involvement in similar crimes is being verified.

The procedural leadership is carried out by prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, with the pre-trial investigation conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region, under the operational support of the Criminal Investigation Department of the police.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
