According to the investigation, a serviceman with combat injuries and concussions appealed to the Military Medical Commission (VLC) due to a deterioration in his health. Despite having legitimate medical grounds, the commissioning process was delayed. Taking advantage of the situation, the suspect – an inspector at the medical facility, who previously worked as the deputy head of the same hospital – offered the soldier "assistance" for 4 thousand US dollars.

In May 2025, the suspect received the first part of the unlawful benefit, and in July – the second. On the same day, the soldier was provided with a conclusion from the VLC, according to which he was recognized as only partially fit for military service, despite promises of full discharge.

During the transfer of the second part of the funds and documents, the former official was detained. Under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Eastern Region, he was informed of the suspicion of providing and receiving unlawful benefits, combined with extortion.

Within the framework of the criminal proceedings under part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) and the Department of Internal Security of the National Police are checking other possible participants in the illegal scheme.

Prosecutors are preparing a motion for the selection of a preventive measure for the suspect.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
