A resident of Zaporozhye, who spread criminal influence on the territory of the pre-trial detention facility, was extradited from Moldova to Ukraine

At the request of the Office of the Prosecutor General, prosecutors of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office ensured the extradition of a resident of Zaporizhzhia, accused of establishing and spreading criminal influence within the pre-trial detention facility and extorting money from inmates (Part 2 of Article 255-1, Part 2 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It was established that the man was in custody at the State Institution "Zaporizhzhia Pre-Trial Detention Center" within the framework of another criminal proceeding. During this period, demonstrating defiance of established rules and relying on his own criminal authority, he gained influence among other individuals held in the facility.

Using this status, he organized illegal channels for the delivery of narcotic substances and prohibited items to the detention center and coordinated their further distribution among individuals under his control. According to the investigation, he also instructed trusted individuals to humiliate and intimidate other inmates, demanding money from them for the so-called "common treasury."

In May 2023, he was released from custody within the framework of the preliminary criminal proceedings. In July of the same year, prosecutors informed him of the suspicion of establishing and spreading criminal influence and extorting funds, and in March 2024, the indictment was sent to court. For several years, the accused hid abroad, avoiding responsibility.

Thanks to the coordinated actions of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, the International Police Cooperation Sector, and the competent authorities of the Republic of Moldova, the suspect was detained and transferred to Ukrainian law enforcement on December 8, 2025.

Currently, the accused has been taken to a pre-trial detention facility in Ukraine. At the prosecutor's request, on December 10, 2025, the court applied a preventive measure in the form of detention.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region with operational support from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.
