Prosecutors of the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with SBU employees, uncovered a man involved in covert collaboration with the KGB of the Republic of Belarus. The agent turned out to be a local resident living near the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.

As part of the investigation, it was established that in the winter of 2024, the suspect agreed to provide assistance to a foreign intelligence service in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine for a monetary reward.

He was "leaking" information about fortifications located near the state border of Ukraine, as well as carrying out other tasks assigned by his handlers. The 24-year-old man recorded everything that interested the intelligence service at the Ukrainian border on his mobile phone camera and sent the information to his clients.

During the investigative actions, a mobile phone was seized from the Volyn resident, containing messages that confirm such collaboration. Based on the collected evidence, he was informed of the suspicion of treason (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

At the request of the prosecutor's office, the court placed the suspect in custody without the right to bail.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
