Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office, the SBU prevented a new series of terrorist attacks in Ukraine. Seven FSB agents were detained, who were preparing to kill Ukrainian defenders using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The executors of the orders from the Russian Federation were recruited by the occupiers through Telegram channels seeking "easy money." Among the individuals involved are three minors.
For example, in Dnipro, the SBU counterintelligence uncovered two 14-year-old classmates from Kamianske who attempted to blow up a patrol crew of the National Police.
At the direction of a Russian intelligence officer, the boys arrived in the regional center, where they retrieved an IED from a cache and planted it under a parked police vehicle.
SBU employees detected the individuals in advance and detained them as the minors were preparing to remotely activate the explosives.
In Kryvyi Rih, three more Russian agents were detained. One of them is a 30-year-old drug addict who had previously committed thefts and, after being recruited, manufactured an IED and hid it in a cache within the city.
The other two are 18-year-old locals who, at the request of the Russian Federation, retrieved explosives from this cache and set them up among garages to blow up a Ukrainian soldier.
In Poltava region, a 14-year-old schoolgirl was uncovered, who, following the occupiers' instructions, prepared an IED. The girl then hid it in an apartment directed by her curator and subsequently "lay low" at her residence in Kremenchuk.
After that, the Russian intelligence officers planned to "lure" a Ukrainian military personnel to the site of the planned terrorist attack to eliminate him.
In Chernihiv region, SBU counterintelligence prevented another terrorist attack. This was made possible by a 17-year-old teenager who proactively contacted the Security Service's chatbot "Burn" FSB agent" and reported the occupiers' intentions to recruit him for detonating an IED.
In Khmelnytskyi region, a 25-year-old drug addict from Vasylkiv in Kyiv region was uncovered, who arrived in Kamianets-Podilskyi at the request of the FSB to carry out a terrorist attack. The perpetrator was caught "in the act" as he placed explosives under the wheel of a Ukrainian Armed Forces vehicle near an apartment building.
The suspects were informed of their charges in accordance with the committed crimes under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 111 (treason committed in a state of war);
- Part 2 of Article 258 (terrorist act).
The perpetrators are in custody. They face imprisonment from 12 years to life with confiscation of property.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by SBU employees under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Chernihiv, and Khmelnytskyi regional prosecutor's offices.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
