Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Central region, a law enforcement officer has been found guilty of committing a criminal offense as stipulated in part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed in a state of war).
It has been established that from February to May 2025, the accused, acting in accordance with tasks received from a representative of the intelligence agency of the Russian Federation, systematically collected and transmitted military information to representatives of the armed forces of the aggressor country via the messenger "Telegram," thereby causing harm to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and defense capability of Ukraine.
In particular, among the transmitted information were data about positions, locations, numbers, and movement routes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, and other military formations of Ukraine involved in repelling the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
He also transmitted intelligence regarding military units, obtained using a mapping web service from "Google," where he indicated the location of the specified objects and personnel.
The court agreed with the position of the prosecution, taking into account the severity of the committed criminal offense and all the circumstances of the case.
By the verdict of the Sosnivskyi District Court of Cherkasy, the serviceman was found guilty and sentenced to 15 (fifteen) years of imprisonment with confiscation of property that is his personal ownership.
The public prosecution in court was supported by the deputy head of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Central region.
Until the verdict takes legal effect, the serviceman will remain in custody.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations located in Kyiv, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Vinnytsia region and with the assistance of the State Border Guard Service's Main Directorate for the Protection of State Borders "Center".
