Juvenile prosecutors during September held almost 3.5 thousand preventive measures to prevent suicidal behavior of children and adolescents

According to UNICEF, nearly 46,000 children aged 10 to 19 die by suicide each year worldwide. That's one child every 11 minutes.

In 2025, the number of suicides and suicide attempts among minors increased by 17%. The most vulnerable age group is teenagers aged 14 to 16.

In light of these alarming trends, at the initiative of the Attorney General, the Department for the Protection of Children's Interests and the Prevention of Domestic Violence of the Office of the Attorney General, in collaboration with the public organization "Volunteer" and with the support of UNICEF, prepared interactive materials for preventive classes with teenagers.

In addition, at the request of the Attorney General, juvenile prosecutors conducted nearly 3,500 preventive measures in more than 2,000 educational institutions throughout September 2025. Over 116,000 students in grades 6 to 11 participated in these activities.

Protecting the rights and interests of children is one of the key priorities of the prosecution authorities. Effective prevention is only possible with shared responsibility from parents, educators, law enforcement agencies, and society. Only by joining forces can we create a safe environment for children where every child feels heard and protected.
