A 31-year-old resident of Zhytomyr received an offer from the Russian special services via the Telegram messenger – to manufacture an improvised explosive device and detonate it for a monetary reward.  

To do this, he purchased all the components according to the instructions of his "curator," made the explosives, and installed them in one of the districts of Korostyshiv, equipping it with a mobile phone for remote detonation. In addition, the suspect set up a camera opposite it for monitoring and sent the coordinates to the enemy.  

As a result of the explosion, a 34-year-old local resident was killed.  

Under the procedural guidance of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office, the man has been notified of suspicion of committing a terrorist act that resulted in a person's death (part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).  

Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect is being resolved.  

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zhytomyr region and the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zhytomyr region.  

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
