The murder of Andriy Parubiy is an indictment in court

The Attorney General Ruslan Kravchenko announced the completion of the investigation into the murder of the people's deputy of Ukraine and former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.

«The prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding a 53-year-old suspect. The resident of Lviv faces life imprisonment. He is charged with treason, attempted murder of a state official committed in connection with his state and public activities, by prior conspiracy of a group of persons, public calls for violent change and overthrow of the constitutional order using the media, illegal handling of weapons by prior conspiracy of a group of persons, as well as glorification of aggression of the Russian Federation (Part 3 of Article 109; Part 2 of Article 111; Part 2 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Article 112; Part 2 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 263; Parts 1, 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)», − noted Ruslan Kravchenko.

Andriy Parubiy was murdered on August 30, 2025. Law enforcement officers established the full chronology of events in the shortest possible time − from the moment of recruiting the executor by Russian special services to the details of the attack and attempts to destroy evidence.

«A man disguised as a courier approached the politician and fired eight shots from a pistol from a few meters away. Andriy Parubiy died on the spot. The shooter fled the crime scene and tried to hide, but was detained in the Khmelnytskyi region on the night of September 1», − indicated the Attorney General.

From the moment of his detention until the completion of the investigation, he was held in custody without the right to bail.

It has been established that the accused acted as an agent of the Russian special services. His collaboration with the enemy began in the summer of 2024 in Telegram, where he sought information about his son, who went missing in the Bakhmut direction. Subsequently, he offered his services to the Russian special services to carry out tasks detrimental to the interests of Ukraine.

«Since 2024, he has been providing the enemy with information about the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Lviv, and later proposed Andriy Parubiy as a target for assassination», − emphasized the Attorney General.

The attack was carefully planned. According to the coordinates provided by the Russian curator, in the spring of 2025, the accused received a "Makarov" pistol and ammunition, monitored the victim, and prepared transportation for escape.

«After the crime, he attempted to destroy evidence, but law enforcement later found the weapon with a silencer in the forest», − detailed Ruslan Kravchenko.

The pistol with a silencer was wrapped in a plastic bag and disguised among empty glass bottles. In addition to the pistol, the suspect also stored a previously purchased sawed-off shotgun of 16 caliber and ammunition for it. He used one of the graves in the Lychakiv Cemetery as a hiding place for the sawed-off shotgun.

DNA tests and ballistic examinations of the weapon confirmed the accused's involvement in the murder. The investigation also obtained a video recording in which he arranges a hiding place with the weapon and reports this to his curator from the Russian Federation. The weapon was planned to be used for other contract killings on the territory of Ukraine.

Even in the courtroom during the selection of a preventive measure, the accused publicly called for the violent overthrow of the constitutional order and new killings of officials.

«The exposure and ensuring accountability for this crime is the result of the joint work of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the National Police of Ukraine», − concluded Ruslan Kravchenko.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
