Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with detectives from the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation, have completed the pre-trial investigation in a criminal proceeding regarding the evasion of payment of nearly 23 million UAH in tax obligations (Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

An indictment has been sent to court against the director of a company providing infrastructure services, which deliberately evaded payment of tax obligations for the use of land belonging to the Chernivtsi territorial community.

According to the investigation, for 20 years, the LLC rented over 13 hectares of land from the Chernivtsi City Council, including the area under a reservoir, the coastal strip, and plots for construction.

Since January 2023, the monetary valuation of the land exceeded 300 million UAH. Accordingly, the tenant was required to pay the city council 5% of the normative monetary valuation of the land plot, which amounted to over 15 million UAH per year. However, the company's director consciously continued to apply old, understated rates for land use.

As a result of these actions, the budget of Chernivtsi lost nearly 23 million UAH in tax obligations from land rent.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by detectives from the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in the Chernivtsi region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
