In Zaporizhzhya, three officials and the head of the commercial structure were reported suspicion in the task of budget losses for more than UAH 3.7 million

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the district prosecutor's offices of Zaporizhzhia, three officials from government and local self-government bodies, as well as the head of a commercial structure, have been exposed for actions that caused damage to the budget totaling over 3.7 million UAH.

According to the investigation, in June 2023, an official, holding the position of director of one of the departments of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, entered into a contract for the purchase of construction materials at inflated prices as part of the Regional Material Reserve Growth Program for the prevention and elimination of emergencies for 2021–2025. This resulted in losses to the regional budget of over 1 million UAH.

Another suspect, while serving as the director of the Zaporizhzhia City Council department, entered into a series of economically disadvantageous agreements in November 2022 in the interests of wood suppliers. As a result, the commercial structure was overpaid more than 1 million UAH of budget funds provided as a state subsidy to support areas affected by the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine.

During the performance of his duties, the head of another department of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, at the beginning of 2025, sold a communal property object at a reduced price, causing the territorial community losses amounting to over 935 thousand UAH.

The head of a local society, while carrying out repairs on a civil protection facility in Zaporizhzhia on a contractual basis, submitted false data in the acts of completed works in October and November 2022 and misappropriated nearly 755 thousand UAH of local budget funds.

All officials have been notified of suspicion of abuse of office or embezzlement of budget funds (Part 2 of Article 364, Part 2 of Article 366, Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspects have also been served with motions for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Pre-trial investigations in the criminal proceedings are being conducted by investigators from the territorial units of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zaporizhzhia region with operational support from other units of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the region and employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region.
