A man was detained in Kyiv who promised employment to a law enforcement agency for $25,000

Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, a 41-year-old man has been notified of suspicion for promising to secure a job for a Kyiv resident in one of the law enforcement agencies, claiming to have connections and acquaintances.
The actions of the suspect have been classified as abuse of influence (part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The man assured that without his connections, it is nearly impossible to get employed in the law enforcement system due to the strict selection process and special verification that a candidate must undergo. Therefore, he valued his assistance at 25,000 US dollars. Of this amount, 15,000 US dollars was to be paid before the verification, and another 10,000 US dollars after employment.
After receiving the first part of the money in the amount of 15,000 US dollars, the man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The suspect has been chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 3 to 8 years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine.
