The Prosecutor General’s Office along with the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine and the Department of Cyber Police exposed and stopped the scheme of illegal sale of falsificated and counterfeit products under the guise of goods of a well-known global brand. As a result of illegal actions, more than UAH 24 million in damages were caused to the international company-rightholder.

It was established that the organizer and two of his accomplices from Dnipro purchased large batches of fake gadgets and accessories in the People's Republic of China for a long time. These are smart watches, headphones, chargers, etc.

The product was manufactured in violation of technology and unlawful use of a trademark for goods and services, with copying the shape, packaging, and external design of the original.

In the future, the fake was sold through a website and social network channel specially created by them. Delivery was organized throughout Ukraine with the help of a postal operator.

As part of the investigation in the territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region, law enforcement officers conducted 14 searches of the locations of the offices and residences of the participants of the scheme. A large volume of counterfeit goods was found and seized.

Currently, three persons have been notified of suspicion of illegal use of signs for goods and services, brand name, qualified indication of the origin of goods (part 3 of Art. 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Two of them were additionally charged with violation of industrial design rights (part 3 of Art. 177 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The suspects were given preventive measures in the form of bail.

Under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office, the pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Main Unit of Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine. The necessary investigative (search) actions are carried out to identify and bring to justice all participants in criminal activity.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
