The scheme of fictitious diagnoses is exposed in Volyn. A law enforcement officer detained

Under the procedural guidance of the Volyn Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region, a serviceman from one of the special law enforcement agencies has been exposed for attempting to organize a scheme to evade military service by issuing false medical documents.

According to the investigation, the individual decided to test the effectiveness of the scheme on his own example. With the help of a medical worker from one of the hospitals in the Volyn region, the suspect initiated the issuance of a fictitious diagnosis — "diabetes mellitus" with complications. Subsequently, these documents were to serve as grounds for his discharge from military service and departure abroad.

In addition, the individual offered one of his colleagues to use the same "service" for 7,000 US dollars, assuring him that he already had established connections with medical professionals.

He was detained during the transfer of funds in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Based on the collected evidence, the serviceman has been notified of suspicion of abuse of influence (Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). A motion has been submitted to the court for the selection of a preventive measure. The identification of other individuals involved in the implementation of the illegal scheme is ongoing.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Lviv with operational support from the Department of Internal Security of the State Border Guard Service, based on materials from the Department of Combating Corruption of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
