The case against one of the former members of the board of JSC "Lvivgaz" has been sent to court, who is accused of a scheme involving inflated gas distribution tariffs. According to the investigation, this allowed for the unjustified inclusion of nearly 3.7 million UAH in the bills.

The scheme involved the submission of knowingly false information in the official calculations of normative gas loss volumes. This is an indicator that is taken into account when forming the tariff: the greater the losses, the higher the price for the consumer.

The investigation established that false data was included in the official calculations. In particular, the number of worn-out gas pipelines and equipment that were allegedly in operation for over 25 years was inflated. Such facilities result in greater "normative losses."

As a result, these losses were artificially increased by almost 2.82 million cubic meters per year. This automatically affected the tariff calculations: it was raised by 14.8 UAH per thousand cubic meters of gas. 

This allowed JSC "Lvivgaz" to unjustifiably include nearly 3.7 million UAH in the cost of services. According to the contracts, this amount was paid by the municipal enterprises of the region: "Zaliznychneteploenergo," "Lvivteploenergo," "Stryiteploenergo," "Chervonogradteplokomunenergo," "Drohobychteploenergo."

Subsequently, the suspect, as one of the leaders of the company, could dispose of the received funds at his discretion.

The accused is charged with misappropriation of someone else's property by abusing his official position, committed in conspiracy by a group of individuals in particularly large amounts, and the submission of knowingly false information in official documents (Part 5 of Article 191, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region. Operational support is provided by the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv Region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
