They will judge two Bukovinians who wanted to commit a terrorist attack on the task of the Russian Federation Special Service

In February of this year, law enforcement prevented a terrorist attack in the Chernivtsi region. The security forces acted preemptively — they detained two local residents recruited by the Russian special services, including a 17-year-old boy.

Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office submitted an indictment against the defendants to the court. They are charged with preparing a terrorist act; attempted murder of law enforcement officers; illegal handling of explosives; manufacturing an improvised explosive device; manufacturing psychotropic substances for sale; illegal storage of precursors (Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 258, Part 1 of Article 263, Part 2 of Article 263-1, Part 2 of Article 307, Part 2 of Article 311, Part 2 of Article 313, Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

As the investigation revealed, the enemy's agents were not working with random people. The boys were involved in the illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances. That is, they were risky individuals prone to breaking the law. This is precisely the type of contingent that Russia uses for dirty work.

Contact with potential executors of the explosion on demand was established through a Telegram channel. They were given a clear task: to manufacture explosives and plant them in an abandoned building. According to the scenario, police were supposed to arrive at the scene on a rail call, and when they entered, the explosive device was to be triggered. To confirm the successful completion of the "mission" to the client, a hidden camera was installed.

Law enforcement acted decisively and prevented the terrorist act.

During a search of the non-residential premises used by the accused, explosives, acids, amphetamines, precursors, and equipment for drug manufacturing were discovered.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in the Chernivtsi region with operational support from special units of the SBU and the National Police in the Chernivtsi region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
