Prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding one of the deputies of the head of the Main Department of the State Geocadastre in the Volyn region. He illegally transferred lands of the nature reserve fund into private ownership.

The pre-trial investigation established that the official signed three orders, which effectively legalized the transfer of over 4 hectares of land in the territory of the local significance general zoological reserve "Hnidavske Swamp" into private ownership. Subsequently, the plots were sold to other buyers. 

The unlawful actions caused damage to state interests amounting to over 6.3 million hryvnias.

Prosecutors are taking measures to return these plots to state ownership. They also filed a lawsuit to recover the entire amount of damage caused to the state from the accused.

The actions of the accused have been qualified as abuse of office, which caused severe consequences (part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He is currently suspended from his position. 

It is worth noting that in March 2025, prosecutors sent an indictment to the court against the same official of the State Geocadastre and two of his accomplices for the appropriation of lands along the shoreline of Lake Svitiaz.

Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Volyn Regional Prosecutor's Office, the pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations located in Lviv.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
