Prosecutors of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Western Region have submitted an indictment to the court regarding the participants of a criminal organization, which included four active military personnel and three civilians. Among the accused is a deputy of one of the city councils in the Rivne region, who organized and led the illegal scheme.
For 10,000 to 15,000 US dollars, they assisted military personnel in unlawfully leaving their places of service and subsequently illegally moving to EU countries.
The "service package" included providing instructions, clothing, transportation, and temporary accommodation.
The accused are charged with creating and leading a criminal organization, obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period, organizing the unlawful departure of military personnel from a military unit, committed under martial law, and organizing the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine.
Based on the prosecutors' motions, six participants of the criminal organization have been taken into custody with the possibility of posting bail. Another one of them has been placed under round-the-clock house arrest by the court.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
