Savings and seizure of more than 5.2 million UAH of budget funds during road repair - in Poltava region will be tried by the village head and the director of two societies

Prosecutors of the Reshetylivka District Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court against the village head from the Poltava region and the director of two companies from the Cherkasy region. They are accused of embezzlement and misappropriation of someone else's property through abuse of office, committed by a group of individuals in collusion, under martial law, and official forgery (Part 5 of Article 191 and Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, from April to July 2023, the village head and the director concluded over 100 contracts for road repairs in the community. After the repairs, they signed acts of completed work with inflated volumes of work and material costs (gravel).

Based on the documents, over 5.2 million UAH was unjustifiably transferred from the local budget to the two companies headed by the director, causing the territorial community to incur losses in that amount. In order to recover the funds, the prosecutor has filed a lawsuit against the accused.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support in the criminal proceedings are being conducted by the Department No. 3 and the special police unit of the Poltava District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Poltava region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
