Five drug suspects taken into custody

Under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, five members of the group who established an interregional network for the supply of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were notified of suspicion.

According to the investigation, the events took place in April-June 2026. Two residents of the city of Sumy moved to Lviv, from where they decided to establish the sale of prohibited substances. We organized the purchase and sale of PVP, amphetamine, cannabis through a created channel store in one of the messengers, using anonymous chats under fictitious nicknames.

The man and the woman decided to involve three more acquaintances who lived in Sumy in the illegal activities. They packed the received wholesale batches of drugs and psychoprops into "bookmarks", which were laid out on the territory of the city.

It was established that on average, the suspects illegally received and sold up to 4 kg of psychotropic substances per month, earning up to UAH 2 million per month.

The actions of the suspects were qualified as illegal acquisition and storage for the purpose of selling a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance in especially large quantities (Part 2, Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).  All five were remanded in custody without the right to bail.

The pre-trial investigation is carried out by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Sumy region with the operational support of the Department of Internal Affairs of the National Police in Sumy region and the Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy region under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor's Office.

Note: according to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
