Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office have reported suspicion against a 35-year-old resident of the region for the illegal production and storage for the purpose of sale of psychotropic substances in particularly large amounts, as well as for the illegal acquisition and storage of precursors — chemical substances used for the production of drugs (Part 3 of Article 307, Part 3 of Article 311 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the man organized an underground production of amphetamine – a dangerous psychostimulant substance prohibited for free circulation. He set up the drug laboratory in a private house on the outskirts of the regional center.
During the search, about 90 kilograms of a substance at the final stage of amphetamine production, 28 grams of already finished psychotropic substance, over 10 liters of liquid, and 3 kilograms of solid phenylnitropropene — a precursor for the production of amphetamine — were seized.
The estimated value of the seized precursors and psychotropic substance at black market prices is over 4 million UAH.
Currently, other individuals involved in the commission of the crime and possible sales channels are being identified.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernivtsi region with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the region and the Department for Combating Drug Crime in the Chernivtsi region.
