Three individuals have been notified of suspicion for the production and storage for the purpose of sale of counterfeit foreign currency (Part 2 of Article 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In 2024, a group of individuals organized an underground printing house in a private house for the production of high-quality counterfeit banknotes.

The suspects rented the house, purchased equipment and materials for producing counterfeit currency through intermediaries, used conspiracy methods, cash transactions, and bank details of third parties, after which they began setting up the equipment and printing trial banknotes for further large-scale production.

In this process, other individuals were involved in the sale of counterfeit banknotes, who replenished the accounts of third parties through terminals and made purchases of goods, including equipment, using counterfeit currency.

The suspects planned to produce over 300,000 US dollars, but they were exposed and detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized counterfeit banknotes as well as equipment for their production.

Currently, the court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for two suspects, and for another one, house arrest.

The exposure was carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Central region in cooperation with the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in Kyiv, with operational support from the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
