Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with employees of the regional SBU Department, uncovered a group of individuals who were illegally transporting conscripted individuals and active servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine abroad.
The scheme was organized by a 40-year-old resident of the city of Chernivtsi. He involved three other individuals — residents of the region.
The organizers provided complete logistics for the illegal transportation of men of conscription age abroad. They received up to 13,000 euros for each individual.
There was also a VIP service – they picked up "clients" from the territory of the Armed Forces training ground and attempted to illegally transport them abroad.
According to preliminary information, the suspects organized the illegal transportation of several dozen conscripted men to Romania.
All four have been notified of suspicion of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and of illegally transporting individuals across the state border, committed by an organized group (part 1 of Article 114-1, part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and preventive measures in the form of detention have been chosen.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the SBU Department in Chernivtsi region with operational support from the 31st Border Detachment.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
