Prosecutors reported suspicion of a clergyman who informed the enemy about the placement of air defense systems in Shostka region

Under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a 41-year-old archpriest of one of the churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) has been notified of suspicion for informing the enemy about the location of military personnel in the city of Shostka and the Shostka district of the Sumy region.

According to the investigation, being pro-Russian, the suspect initiated communication with a representative of the Russian special services in one of the messengers. In response to the interlocutor's request, the clergyman sent him information about the locations of military facilities of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. The enemy was particularly interested in the coordinates of the air defense systems.

Thus, during his free time from services, the archpriest would go to the area and spy on Ukrainian defenders, after which he sent the occupiers a detailed description of the available means that the military uses to repel enemy airstrikes.

During a search, pro-Kremlin literature and a smartphone with evidence of collaboration with the enemy were found in the archpriest's possession.

The actions of the suspect have been classified as the dissemination of information about the movement, movement, or location of military formations (part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

At the request of the investigator and the prosecutor, the court has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention without the right to bail.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region.
