The head of the department of one of the hospitals in Mykolaiv and an intermediary have been notified of suspicion of receiving unlawful benefits (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the doctor promised a local resident to arrange his stay for inpatient treatment in the department of the hospital under his control for 3,000 US dollars, as well as to produce documents confirming the presence of diseases that would prevent him from serving in the military.

To transfer the funds, the official involved an intermediary — his acquaintance.

The suspects were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving the unlawful benefits.

At the request of the prosecutors, the doctor was placed under a preventive measure — round-the-clock house arrest, while the intermediary was taken into custody with the right to post bail in the amount of 454,200 UAH.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv region, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
