The prosecutor's office obliged to set the boundaries of the Tovtrovska Wall Reserve in Bukovina

The Chernivtsi District Prosecutor's Office has compelled the Viknyanska Village Council through the court to establish the boundaries of the landscape reserve "Tovtrivska Stinka" on the ground — a unique natural object of national significance.

The "Tovtrivska Stinka" is a canyon-like valley in the village of Tovtry in the Chernivtsi region, covering an area of 15.7 hectares, featuring rare karst forms of relief in gypsum and limestone, as well as unique vegetation of rocky steppes. The reserve of national significance was established by a decree of the President of Ukraine in 1994.

In January 2008, the State Administration of Environmental Protection in the Chernivtsi region mandated the Tovtrivska Village Council to ensure the protection and preservation of the reserve. After the administrative-territorial reform of 2020, these responsibilities were transferred to the Viknyanska territorial community. For 17 years, the boundaries of the reserve were not established, which posed a threat of unauthorized use and alienation of the protected lands.

To protect the unique natural heritage, the prosecutor's office appealed to the court, which supported the prosecutor's claim, obliging the local self-government body to eliminate the violations and establish the boundaries of the reserve.
