Prosecutors, together with investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region, in cooperation with employees of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Sumy region, uncovered four residents of Sumy who created a charitable organization to collect donations allegedly for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and for those affected by the war. The charitable contributions amounting to 1.6 million hryvnias were spent on their own needs.

All individuals have been notified of suspicion under part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal use of charitable donations for profit.

A motion is being prepared for the court to impose preventive measures against them.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
