The Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office has announced suspicion against a state inspector of the "Yavoriv" customs post of the Lviv customs. He is accused of abuse of office and official forgery (Part 2 of Article 364, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the official organized an illegal scheme for the unhindered import of goods worth 2.3 million UAH into the territory of Ukraine without carrying out customs formalities. In particular, without paying the mandatory customs duties.

The suspect, knowing for certain that there was goods in the owner's car that needed to be declared, entered false information into the relevant system about the absence of cargo.

As a result of such actions by the customs officer, the state lost about 750,000 UAH.

Investigative actions are ongoing. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect and his suspension from office is being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the territorial office of the State Bureau of Investigations in the city of Lviv, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region, with the assistance of employees from the internal control department of the Lviv customs.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
