The Chernivtsi Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region, together with the Investigative Department of the National Police in the Chernivtsi region, has reported suspicion against a colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine based on materials from Department "D" of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region. 

The officer is suspected of committing an offense under part 4 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns the embezzlement of budget funds through illegal actions during state procurement of timber for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which caused losses amounting to approximately over 2.9 million hryvnias. 

Currently, prosecutors have submitted a motion to the court for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
