Beaten the detainee in shackles - a law enforcement officer from Khmelnytskyi reported suspicion

Under the procedural guidance of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office, an inspector of the patrol police response sector of one of the departments of the Khmelnytskyi RUP of the National Police of Ukraine has been notified of suspicion for exceeding official powers (part 2 of Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the police officer beat a detainee during his shift in January of this year. The detention occurred in the middle of the night due to the driver's attempt to flee from law enforcement. And when the man was already in handcuffs, the officer struck him in the chest three times without cause, causing him to fall to the ground. After the victim fell, he inflicted several more blows.
Currently, a motion has been submitted to the court for the selection of a preventive measure and suspension from office.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by an investigator from the first investigative department of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in the city of Khmelnytskyi, with operational support from the staff of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
