Composition of unlawful armed formations controlled by the Russian Federation (as of 10-17.08.2014)

Information regarding the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation that invaded the territory of Ukraine and were located at the border with the Russian Federation.
 

As of 28.08.14, the presence of units (military personnel) of the RF Armed Forces was recorded in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions:

• 331st Parachute Assault Regiment of the 98th Airborne Division (KOSTROMA),
• 8th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade (BORZOY, Shatoi District of the Chechen Republic),
• 76th Air Assault Division (PSKOV),
• 19th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 58th Army (VLADIKAVKAZ),
• 247th Air Assault Regiment of the 7th Air Assault Division,
• 16th Separate Special Purpose Brigade (TAMBOVSK),
• 24th Separate Special Purpose Brigade (NOVOSIBIRSK),
• battalion technical group of the 20th Army of the Western Military District (NOVY),
• 74th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Central Military District (YURGA),
• battalion tactical group of the 20th Separate Motorized Rifle Group (VOLGOGRAD),
• battalion tactical group of the 7th Separate Tank Brigade (CHEBARKUL),
• battalion-tactical group of the 33rd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 49th Army (STANITSA ZELENCHUKSKA),
• 34th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 49th Army (MAIKOP).

At the same time, the grouping of the RF Armed Forces along the eastern section of the state border of Ukraine consisted of: 35 battalion-tactical and company-tactical groups; no less than 45,100 military personnel; up to 160 tanks; 1,360 BMPs (APCs); 350 units of artillery; 130 units of multiple launch rocket systems; 192 combat aircraft; 137 helicopters.
