Overpaying more than half a million hryvnias for prosecular documentation-prosecutors reported suspicion of the engineer of the Kyiv Fortress Museum

Prosecutors of the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv have informed an engineer of the National Historical and Architectural Museum "Kyiv Fortress" of suspicion of abuse of office, which caused severe consequences for the state interests protected by law (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In 2023, the museum and one of the research and design institutes signed a contract for the production of scientific and project documentation for cultural heritage sites that were to be restored. During the development of the project and cost documentation, the contractor did not perform a number of works stipulated by the contract and also inflated the cost of certain items. At the same time, the chief engineer was supposed to monitor the quality of the contractor's work but failed to do so, acting in the interests of the institution that was fulfilling the order.

As a result, for the unperformed work, the contractor was paid over 500,000 hryvnias, causing losses to the territorial community of Kyiv in that amount.

A motion has been prepared to choose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with an alternative of bail in the amount of the damages incurred.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Pechersk Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
