Prosecutors have submitted an indictment to the court against the deputy commander of one of the military units in the Mykolaiv region and the head of the information protection service in automated systems, who illegally accrued combat payments.

As established by the pre-trial investigation, they conspired with the senior assistant to the chief of staff for personnel and the formation unit to forge documents stating that they, along with 45 servicemen of the unit, participated in combat actions from March to May 2024.

Based on these documents, an additional reward was paid in a significantly larger amount — 100 thousand hryvnias instead of the due 30. The total amount of damages caused to the state amounts to over 7.7 million hryvnias.

The third participant in the illegal payment mechanism for "combat" has been notified of suspicion in absentia. He is currently wanted.

The actions of the accused have been qualified as abuse of office and official forgery (part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 364, part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Under the procedural guidance of the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Southern region, the pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by employees of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Mykolaiv.

Note: according to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
