A resident of the Rivne region, who was planning to commit a terrorist act at the request of a representative of the Russian special services, has been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 2 of Article 258 of Ukraine's Criminal Code.

The suspect retrieved a homemade explosive device disguised in a tourist backpack from a pre-arranged location, delivered it to one of the hotel and entertainment complexes in Rivne region, and prepared it for detonation.

The woman was supposed to leave the activated explosives in one of the hotel rooms when the maximum number of vacationers and guests were present on the complex's territory. Thanks to the coordinated actions of law enforcement, the tragedy was averted.

Under the procedural guidance of the Rivne Regional Prosecutor's Office, the pre-trial investigation and operational support are being carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Rivne region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
