Hundreds of "runaway business" schemes were exposed in Transcarpathia: more than 270 organizers will appear in court

Over the course of 9 months in Transcarpathia, more than 270 organizers and accomplices of illegal border crossing schemes have already been exposed. A total of 174 indictments have been sent to court, and 395 individuals have been detained while attempting to flee beyond the borders of Ukraine. The amount of illegal profit that the organizers were counting on exceeds 1.6 million US dollars. In total, throughout 2025, the courts in the region have already issued 18 sentences against 20 individuals for organizing the illegal transportation of conscript-aged men, with a significant number of cases still being heard in the courts.

Among the latest decisions is the verdict of the Berehove District Court regarding a 23-year-old resident of the village of Hrushevo in the Tyachiv district, who, together with an accomplice, attempted to transport two men to Hungary for a reward ranging from 3,500 to 5,000 US dollars. The man, who already had a criminal record, was detained by border guards on the outskirts of the village of Velyka Bakhta. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 6 years in prison.

Also in Berehove, a 26-year-old local resident was convicted, who, having an unexpunged criminal record for theft, organized an attempt to transport two men from Kirovohrad and Zaporizhzhia regions to Hungary. The perpetrator accompanied the "clients" almost to the border line, where they were detained by border guards. The prosecution proved the man's guilt, for which the court sentenced him to 5 years in prison with an additional restriction on the right to hold public office.

Another verdict was issued against a 33-year-old resident of the village of Kostylivka in the Rakhiv district, who, along with accomplices, organized an attempt to transport four citizens of Afghanistan to Hungary. The woman rented vehicles, coordinated the transportation, and accompanied the transport with conscripted individuals almost to the border, where law enforcement uncovered their activities. The woman was sentenced to 5 years in prison with an additional restriction on the right to hold certain positions.

In Uzhhorod district, since the beginning of the year, 3 individuals have been sentenced to actual imprisonment for illegal transportation of conscripted individuals across the state border.

A resident of Chop was sentenced to 7 years in prison for attempting to transport a conscripted individual to Slovakia for 6,500 US dollars. Another convict is a native of Skadovsk. He was found guilty of organizing the illegal transportation of two men to Hungary via the Tisza River. Another individual was sentenced to 7 years in prison for organizing a scheme to transport a conscripted individual to Slovakia.

The prosecution consistently responds to each case of organizing illegal transportation, bringing cases to guilty verdicts.
