In Transcarpathia, the prosecutor proved the guilt of a saboteur who set fire to the strategic object of Ukrzaliznytsia. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison

The prosecutor of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office has proven the guilt of a 22-year-old resident of the village of Hrushevo, Tiachiv district, in committing sabotage, carried out in conspiracy by a group of individuals under martial law and the completed attempt to intentionally damage property by arson (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 113, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 15, Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The young man has been sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The convicted individual collaborated against his own country in an attempt to earn "easy money." He agreed to the proposal to set fire to several strategic facilities in the region. Payment was to be made after he provided photo or video evidence of the act.

The first target was the premises of one of the courier delivery services. The young man doused part of the building with gasoline and set it on fire. After filming everything on his phone and reporting the completion of the task, the young man fled, and the fire at the site extinguished itself. He did not receive any payment for his work.

Subsequently, around 1 a.m., the suspect set fire to a facility that supplies and regulates power at a local railway crossing. Despite the arson, the equipment remained fully functional. Law enforcement detained the young man the following day after the incident.

Until the court's verdict comes into effect, he will continue to be held in custody at the Transcarpathian Correctional Facility No. 9 without the possibility of bail.

The measures to uncover the crime were carried out by operatives and investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Transcarpathian region in cooperation with the criminal police of the Tiachiv district department of the National Police of Ukraine in the Transcarpathian region, under the procedural guidance of the Tiachiv District and Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Offices.
