The head of one of the separate divisions of the regional branch "Odesa Railway" of JSC "Ukrainian Railways" in Vinnytsia region has been notified of suspicion of extortion and receiving illegal benefits using his official position.

According to the investigation, he demanded a bribe of 2000 US dollars from a conscripted individual for fictitious employment in his production unit and subsequent reservation to obtain a deferment from conscription during mobilization.

The official was detained while handing over the agreed amount of illegal benefits and was notified of suspicion under part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, prosecutors are preparing a motion to the court for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Within the framework of the pre-trial investigation, which is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Vinnytsia region with operational support from the Regional Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine, other individuals who may have used the "services" of the suspect are being identified.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
