In Vinnytsia region will be judged by the organizer of a criminal organization that made and sold counterfeit documents

Prosecutors of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with the police, have completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to the court regarding the recently extradited organizer of a criminal organization from the Republic of Moldova, whose members forged official documents, including the application of holographic security elements.

He is charged with the illegal production and sale of forged certificates and official documents that contained illegally obtained holographic security elements and the legalization (laundering) of property obtained through criminal means (parts 1, 2 of Article 255, part 4 of Article 28, part 3 of Article 199, part 4 of Article 28, part 3 of Article 358, part 4 of Article 28, part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that a 21-year-old resident of Odesa organized and led the illegal activity, involving 5 individuals. The members of the criminal organization produced more than 3,800 forged official documents containing illegally obtained holographic security elements. Applications for production were made through social networks and messengers. The cost of one forged document ranged from 6,000 to 12,000 UAH.

It has been proven that the members of the criminal organization received over 6 million 445 thousand UAH from the sale of forged documents. They legalized the illegally obtained profits, including by using cryptocurrency wallets.

The illegal activity was carried out in the territories of Vinnytsia, Odesa, Lviv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions. The ready-forged documents were sent by postal service throughout Ukraine.

The indictment against other members of the criminal organization was submitted to the court in 2024.

Let us remind you that according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
