Under the procedural guidance of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, a 37-year-old resident of the region has been notified of suspicion for organizing extortion combined with violence, committed under martial law (Part 3 of Article 27, Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the woman, having a long-standing property dispute with her ex-husband, a serviceman, decided to resolve it unlawfully. She aimed to seize all the property of the 33-year-old man, including a store in the city of Berezivka, a car, and a land plot that he received from the state as a serviceman.
The suspect believed she had the right to this plot since she was involved in processing the documents, which exacerbated the conflict between them.
It has been established that initially, the woman stole documents related to her ex-husband's property. Later, she found an executor who was to independently or with accomplices beat and intimidate the victim, forcing him to transfer all his property to her name.
The woman assessed her criminal intentions at 6,500 US dollars, of which she transferred 500 dollars as a deposit.
After receiving operational information, law enforcement conducted a controlled operation, during which the execution of the order was simulated. The suspect was provided with forged documents that allegedly confirmed the re-registration of the property and evidence of the "intimidation" of the victim.
During the transfer of funds for the "completed work," the client was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The prosecutor's office has applied to the court with a request to take her into custody without the right to bail.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is being conducted by the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region, with operational support from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner.
