Prosecutors of the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding a citizen of Georgia who attempted to illegally export 260,000 US dollars out of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the man, working as a driver of a bus on the "Khmelnytskyi – Istanbul" route, concealed cash in 14 packages hidden in the engine compartment of the vehicle during customs control.

During the inspection of the bus, employees of the Chernivtsi customs discovered a carefully equipped hiding place with undeclared funds. 

According to the rules of the National Bank of Ukraine, an individual is allowed to export up to 10,000 euros or the equivalent in another currency out of Ukraine without written declaration. The foreigner attempted to export an amount that exceeds the permitted limit by twenty times.

He is charged with an attempted smuggling of currency values (part 2 of article 15, part 1 of article 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation in the case was conducted by detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region.

Note: according to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
