The chief forester and the director of one of the state forestry enterprises in Ternopil region have been informed of suspicions of official negligence that caused serious consequences (part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The chief forester unjustifiably entered data into the logging tickets about the possibility of conducting 41 cuts of rare forest, and the director issued logging tickets for these works.

As a result of the illegal destruction of 6,267 trees of various species, the environment suffered damage amounting to nearly 57 million UAH.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in Lviv, under the procedural guidance of the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office.
