The former prosecutor from the Kherson region was informed of suspicion of treason

Prosecutors of the General Inspection of the Office of the Prosecutor General reported suspicion against a former prosecutor of one of the district prosecutor's offices in the Kherson region for committing treason (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect, while on the temporarily occupied territory of the city of Kherson and working at that time in the prosecution authorities of Ukraine, intentionally switched to the side of the aggressor state under conditions of martial law.

It has been established that in July 2022, he voluntarily entered into a criminal conspiracy with representatives of the occupying administration of the Russian Federation and took the position of so-called "leading specialist of the department of legal, personnel work and record-keeping" in the illegal body - "Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Military-Civil Administration of the Kherson Region" (in the original language).

Subsequently, in September 2022, the suspect took the position of so-called "head of the department of legal, personnel work and record-keeping" in the pseudo-body "Ministry of Tourism of the Kherson Region," and in November 2023 - the position of so-called "first deputy minister of resorts and tourism of the Kherson region."

Thus, the investigation believes that the former prosecutor's employee consciously collaborated with the occupying authorities, facilitating the functioning of the illegal bodies of the aggressor state, thereby causing harm to the sovereignty, territorial integrity, defense capability, and national security of Ukraine.

The sanction of the incriminated article provides for imprisonment for up to 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is conducted by investigators of the second investigative department (located in the city of Kherson) of the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigations, based in the city of Melitopol.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
