Law enforcement officials are establishing the circumstances surrounding the death of a 17-year-old child. The girl's parents contacted the police after she did not return home the evening before following a walk.

During search operations in the village of Mykolaivka in the Sumy district today, July 24, 2025, around 1:00 PM, law enforcement discovered the body of the missing girl in a forest belt, showing signs of violent death and injuries characteristic of rape.

Information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations regarding the intentional murder combined with rape or sexual violence (paragraph 10 of part 2 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators from the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region. The senior prosecutor of the group is the head of the Sumy regional prosecutor's office.
