Torture in Katyuzhanka: The prosecutor's office informed about suspicion to the Russian occupier

The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office has notified a Russian military officer of suspicion in absentia for cruel treatment of civilians (Part 1 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

This concerns a sergeant of the 155th Separate Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, in March 2022, during the occupation of the village of Katyuzhanka in the Vyshhorod district, he, along with other soldiers, arrived at the home of a local resident. The occupiers demanded that the man confess to "collaboration" with the Ukrainian military. When he denied this, the Russian sergeant struck the man, knocked him to the ground, and began to beat him with his hands and the butt of his weapon.

The investigation is ongoing, and other individuals involved in the commission of the war crime are being identified.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
