The Prosecutor General's Office is carrying out systematic activity to expose criminal manifestations in the system of prosecution authorities. No cover-ups or concealment of facts about the commission of illegal actions by employees of prosecution authorities. This is a requirement of the Prosecutor General.

It is informed that the General Inspectorate of the Prosecutor General’s Office has notified of suspicion of the deputy head of one of the District Prosecutor's Offices of the Chernihiv region in organizing the theft of particularly important documents by forging official documents (Part 3 of Article 27 Part 2 of Article 28 Part 2 of Article 357, Part 5 of Article 27 Part 2 of Article 28 Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The mentioned prosecutor is suspected of organizing the theft of materials from a criminal proceedings being investigated into the seizure of state agricultural lands by officials of one of the largest agricultural holdings in the Chernihiv region.

In the interests of this enterprise, the prosecutor organized the theft of land management documentation and documents on the alienation and privatization of land, actually at the stage of transferring them for examination.

To this end, during 2023-2024, the suspect gave verbal instructions to investigators and inquirers of the regional police department to withdraw the originals of all documents regarding the privatization and alienation of the specified land plots from notaries and regulatory authorities.

So, instead of a dozen big boxes with documents for examination, a box with newspapers and magazines issued by the District Prosecutor's Office, where the person involved worked, was delivered. And to hide the theft of the documents, he and his accomplice forged a cover letter that would confirm the materials were allegedly in the expert institution.

The final qualification of the suspect's illegal actions will be made based on the results of all appropriate investigative actions.

The former first deputy head of one of the District Prosecutor's Offices in Cherkasy region is notified of suspicion for abuse of influence and disclosure of pre-trial investigation data (under Part 2 of Article 369-2, Part 2 of Article 387 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

This prosecutor, in the interests of his acquaintance, asked an investigator from another district to register a criminal proceedings and conduct investigative actions in it. In particular, to interrogate certain individuals and withdraw relevant documents.

He transmitted this data on to the interested party. In fact, the prosecutor disclosed the data of the pre-trial investigation.

The prosecutor received an unlawful benefit for his activity.

Thus, the former first deputy head of one of the District Prosecutor's Offices of the Cherkasy region deliberately used his authority and connections with police officers to ensure the interests of a private individual and his own illegal enrichment.

Motions for the imposition of preventive measures have been filed against both prosecutors.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
