Colonel-General Rosgvardia was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the aggressive war in Kherson region

Prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office proved the guilt of the Colonel General of the Russian army, commander of the Ural Military District of the Russian National Guard, in conducting an aggressive war against Ukraine (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 437 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

By the court's verdict, he was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment.

In February 2022, the higher military leadership of the Russian Federation dispatched the Colonel General to the territory of the Kherson region as the commander of a specially created auxiliary command point for the Russian troops "South." Under his command were at least four tactical groups, a special forces unit, an operational group, and other subdivisions.

The servicemen of the National Guard under his command, together with other units of the Russian army, participated in combat operations and carried out attacks on the civilian population. This led to numerous casualties among the peaceful residents of Kherson region, including women and children, as well as the occupation of a significant part of the region.

By his orders, the Russian servicemen set up checkpoints, conducted mass searches, illegal detentions, and imprisonment of citizens, and seized vehicles. In addition, the Colonel General coordinated the dispersal of peaceful protests: force was used against unarmed people, they were detained, illegally held, and tortured.

The special pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kherson region with operational support from the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine in the region.
